The Makeup Show Makeup Shop NYC

Makeup, beauty brands, hair care, sample sale prices, and education. For what more can you ask? A makeup lovers dream, the Makeup Show announced earlier this year that they would be having a pop-up event, the Makeup Shop NYC, December 15th and 16th. Even though I attended the regularly scheduled Makeup Show back in August,  exclusively held for artists and industry professionals required to show credentials for entry, the Makeup Shop NYC was open to the public and included access to over 40 brands boasting special deals and discounts, along with demos and education. It was a great way to spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon.

After an informative and quite entertaining introduction of a few highlighted products and brands from James Vincent, Director of Education and Artistry for the Makeup Show, my homegirl and I crafted our game plan on which booths to be sure to hit less we get sidetracked by glitter lips and slogan tees. Big on our list was the Danessa Myricks booth, although she already got half my paycheck last time LOL. Her foundations are a kit staple for me and I love the way I can confidently enhance any face that sits in my chair, regardless of skin tone or texture. So yea… she got our money yet again. But well worth it, Ms Myricks, well worth it. Should out to her team as well. Phoenix and Selena were most helpful as always.

Other favorites from the day? Inglot touted a serious sale and I honed right in on some beautiful mattes. I work near their Times Square store so I know their general prices and took advantage of the opportunity to add some new lipsticks to the arsenal! Great job, Inglot.

Friends Beauty was also in the house so I copped a few brushes because an artist can never have too many – and my supply was in need. And no surprise that Alcone, a crowd favorite, was front and center with many of the brands they carry on display with deep discounts. I definitely snatched up some accessories and a few kit extras I’d been wanting to add.

Funny enough, the surprise booth for us had nothing to do with makeup but nails! Marmalade Nails was in the house with some of the cutest press on nails I’d ever seen. And since me and my nails have a love hate relationship, and I happened to have a fabulous conversation with the oh-so-sweet founder Sunja Mitchell, I had to try a few pairs! Actually, after purchasing two and then realizing I really wanted to try a third pair, she threw it in at an extra discount “just because.” Don’t you just love good people? I do…

If you’re up for a new nail look that doesn’t necessarily include gel or acrylic, check out Marmalade. I tried them for the first time last night, and so far so good 🙂 I’ll be doing a full review for them later, but for now feel free to shop or message them and be sure to let them know “lalovelee” sent you for a potential extra perk!

So yea, it was a busy day! Have you ever attended the Makeup Show before? If so, what was your experience? And if you interested in attending future events from the Makeup Show, be sure to check their calendar for upcoming locations and dates!

xoxo,
La
